Happy April folks, and thanks for picking up this, our biggest ever issue of Gaylife!
Why are we so big this month? Well the sheer amount of events, news and information for y’all this time around is truly immense, and of course I wouldn’t want to miss anything out!
So – what are all these events? Well we’re talking about the forthcoming Sparkle weekend (of which Gaylife is now a proud sponsor), there’s the recently announced Drag Ball which celebrates the amazing work that The George House Trust have been doing for the past 30 years in and around Manchester, and of course there’s the general election looming.
We’ve spoken to all the 5 main party candidates in the Manchester Central region and put the same 10 questions to them all. The responses (which we’ve printed in full – and without prejudice) are well worth a read!
Then of course, there’s the events taking place this month and into the start of May. Leather Weekend comes around first at the end of April, so we’ve been speaking to the organiser Andrew Moran about the history of the leather scene. Then the first weekend of May is set to be a scorcher. The Manbears turn of age with their 18th year celebrations lasting all weekend long and incorporating many different venues and events. That same weekend you can also look forward to the Village People Weekend, a charity fundraiser which raised over 10K last year for good causes. We speak to founder Paul McAvoy about this year’s event, starting on page 36.
If all that partying takes it out of you, then we recommend some healthy outdoorsy type activities. And we know just the group for you, as we’ve also caught up with the OutdoorLads bunch this month, see what they had to say for themselves.
Then of course all your favourites are back. From Lee Clatworthy’s sarcasm, (which is in full poisonous form this month), to Matt J Blake’s movie reviews, they’re all here. We’ve got MJ with his well being tips, Grahame Robertson telling us all about the LGF’s new look, and Thunderpussy who’s got her soap box well and truly out.
Anything else? Only that Misty Chance bird who’s been galavanting off down the cobbles of Coronation Street, and reviews the new improved tour for you.
Phew! I think that deserves a voddy and orange (which lots of ice and a straw) actually.
Catch you next time, (with a just confirmed interview with QAF’s Hazel AKA Denise Black).
