Welcome to the June issue of Gaylife. Loads to tell you this month and its all spread out over the next 88 pages, mixed in with pics of y’all having fun in our world famous village.
It’s been a fundraising frenzy this last month, with significant contributions from The Manbears, The Village People Weekend, and The Leather Boys all added to the regular bucket shaking from businesses throughout the community. So a big well done to the organisers and everyone that contributed, came along or supported the events.
In addition The Manchester Pride Spring Benefit was a storming success raising thousands for the charity from auctions and raffles, along with ticket sales to the event. It was a great night out, but unfortunately also the cause of a goliath hangover the next day.
May also saw the celebration of IDAHOBIT, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. With the most dreadful of cases still taking place around the world It’s still so important to make a stand against hate crime and ensure that our voices are heard.
Then here we are back up to date and with the summer ahead of us. And there’s still plenty of fun to be had, with both Sparkle Weekend and the Manchester Pride fringe and Big Weekend just around the corner.
So, to this month’s issue of Gaylife. And the big news this month is Eurovision. We’ve been speaking with Nana, who has watched every single competition in detail for the last 129 years and can answer literally any quiz question on the subject. Do challenge her, she’ll like that! Anyway, Nane has reviewed all the entrants for us and given us a prediction on who she thinks the winners will be.
Also in this issue we look at the Taurus refurbishment, review last month’s big ‘Battle of the Seasons’ event at The Ritz and meet all the new Big Brother 2015 housemates. (I’ve taken a shine to Nick already). All your regulars are back too, from Thunderpussy with her problem page and Matt J Blake with his movie reviews, to MJ with his well being tips and Lee Clatworthy with his whining.
Happy reading, and I’ll catch you again next month, despite what the gossips say!!!
