With Manchester Pride comes a whole lot of late night club action, some of which creeping into the daytime too and here ahead of the Big Weekend are just a few highlights from the many events that are taking place over August Bank Holiday – all you have to do is decide is how many of them you can squeeze into what promises to be another memorable weekend.
As the longest serving a Gay club in the city it’s only right that I should start with Cruz101’s plans for the weekend. Every year the club goes all out from Thursday right through until Monday night when the club hosts the Official Pride closing party. With a Star Wars theme the club will be transformed to into a gay-galaxy for the weekend. Save some money and grab yourself a £25 weekend ticket.
Down in Sub101 the weekend kicks off on Friday with the Cha Cha girls going all Apocalypse for the night from 11pm. As ever you’re in for a treat with a night of jaw dropping performances from Anna Phylactic, Cheddar Gorgeous and their lip sync sister for the night.
Sub101 looks set to be a busy space over the entire weekend as Aftershock take over on both Saturday and Sunday night. Last year’s Lost Weekend events completely sold out, so be sure to secure your place on the dancefloor with an advance ticket for Aftershock – Kingdom of Devotion. The residents will be joined by some very special guests including Sydney superstar DJ Jimjam. Both nights will run until super late and you do not need a pride wristband to get into Sub101.
Global clubbing brand We Party returns to Manchester for a super-sized pride event on Saturday 29th where they will be taking over Manchester Academy for the night with “We Party Love Boat”. There launch event back in May delivered what was promised and more and the team behind the brand are promising even bigger visuals, shows and performances this time round. Manchester DJ legends Dave Booth, Dylan Jeffers and Gregg Holden all return for this event and will be playing a 25 year soundtrack in arena 2: A nod at Manchester Prides 25th year history.
On Sunday night London Super club Beyond are moving into the Ritz for a very special Pride event with a DJ line-up that packs an almighty punch in terms of pure Beyond talent. Superstar DJ/Producer Wayne G joins residents Tony English and Matt Bogard on the line up for Beyond Britannia. Room 2 will home the pop lounge with hosts Tilly Skreams, Heroin Amor and Candy Acid.
Over at Factory (Formerly Paradise) Homoelectric swing back into the heart of the city for Pride with their Bank Holiday Showdown, where resident DJs will be going head to head across three separate rooms. Will Tramp, Prosumer, Trash-O-Rama, Shake Yer Dix, Jamie Bull and Mark Steven will be providing the soundtrack from 10pm until 4am. Advance tickets are advisable as this is likely to sell out.
If you like things a little saucy and quite a bit kinky then you’ll be pleased to know that Alert has two parties on over Pride, kicking off with Dark Pride on Friday 28th with a strict dress code policy. On Sunday it’s Lite Pride where there is no dress code for those that want to get a taste of what Alert has on offer without getting dressed for the occasion.
On Monday morning Void will swing open its doors for the second of its after hour parties over pride. DJs include Dave Gray, Darren Goodwin and Hypho. Wristbands are available pre sale ahead of the weekend throughout August.
