As the gay boys and girls of Manchester flock to Gran Canaria Pride – a tradition that seems to snowball each and every year – the remaining party people of Manchester (And there’s plenty of them) are left behind to keep the parties kicking in and around Canal Street throughout Bank Holiday weekend 23rd/24th May. And as it’s the last Bank Holiday for quite a few months it seems there is plenty of clubbing carnage waiting on the cobbles and in the Village.
The weekend kicks off with Alert at Alter Ego on Friday 22nd May where they will be throwing a sports kit special for those men and boys who are into their football, rugby, wrestling gear – and of course anything else sports themed that might get the other fella’s all hot and sweaty in whatever they’re wearing. Open from 11pm until 4am.
With the arrival of ON Bar back at the start of May, the Orange Group promised that they would land in Manchester with a bang and no sooner had they arrived it was announced they would be throwing their first major party at The Ritz on Sunday 24th May, bringing world class clubbing brand WE PARTY to the city for the first time with WE ATTACKS! Advance tickets are on sale now from ON Bar and a number of other venues across the village. Tickets are also available online from orangenation.co.uk. Room 2 at WE ATTACKS is hosted by the Cha Cha girls Anna Phylactic and Cheddar Gorgeous – with a soundtrack from Danny Olsson-Lane and guests. If WE PARTY arriving in Manchester wasn’t enough excitement for you – then be sure to save some energy for BEYOND AFTERSHOCK – the official after party over at Cruz until super late.
Whilst on the subject of Cruz, it’s going to be a busy few weeks at the club as they will be celebrating their 23rd Birthday throughout the month of June and it all kicks off the weekend after Bank Holiday with a line up that will inevitably see both floors of the club packed throughout the entire weekend. Cha Cha Boudoir return to Sub101 for the celebrations on the Friday night and Aftershock join in on the action in Sub101 on Saturday 30thMay. But it’s upstairs where the main celebrating will take place throughout the entire month of June with a special main event on Saturday 20th. Be sure to keep an eye on www.cruz101.com and on facebook for all the finer details and information.
Other highlights over the next few weeks include The Big Scrum 5th Birthday party at Sub101 on Friday 05TH June, the arrival of Room Service at Kiki over Bank Holiday weekend where the infamous night club take charge for one night only and Pop Curious Eurovision special at the Ruby Lounge on Saturday 23rd May.
Final words this month – A massive congratulations to Pam and the team for their Sunday Spirit Returns back at the start of May, another event proving that gay clubbing in Manchester is still very hot right now. Let’s hope they return soon with another storming night of classics. See you next month.
